The Guardian Silhouettes
All of the details and history behind the life-sized silhouettes in the park

Positioned throughout Veterans Monuments Park are life-sized steel silhouettes representing American service members from major periods of conflict, including World War I, World War II, Korea, and beyond. These locally crafted figures were created by Paul and Tracy Deal of TP Services and serve as symbolic guardians of the park.
While some visitors initially interpret them as soldiers heading into battle, their true purpose is far more reflective. They stand watch over the monuments and battlefield crosses, honoring those who served and those who never returned. Designed without visible facial features, the silhouettes invite visitors to imagine the individuals they represent — fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors.
As you walk among them, they evoke the powerful sense of moving through sacred ground, surrounded by protectors who stand in quiet tribute to their fellow service members.
